Elizabeth Murray

Elizabeth Murray is an Associate with Graves Bartle Marcus & Garrett, LLC, where she represents individuals and businesses nationwide in state and federal courts and in arbitration matters pending before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

Ms. Murray represents clients in partnership, trust, investment and other business disputes, and she has assisted brokers in expungement of information in the Central Registration Depository System. Her practice also involves advising financial institutions on ways to anticipate and respond to incidents of fraud to minimize legal risk and financial exposure, and providing services such as:

• Revising customer agreements to provide increased protection;
• Implementing a response plan to incidents of fraud; and
• Defending against threatened legal action and lawsuits by customers.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Murray worked as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Missouri, where she prosecuted federal firearms and drug offenses. Ms. Murray also served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Greene County, Missouri. In this capacity, she prosecuted white-collar crimes, identity theft, financial crimes, forgery and numerous other offenses. Ms. Murray began her legal career as a litigation staff attorney for the Alliance Defense Fund, a non-profit legal defense organization, where she conducted civil rights litigation.

Ms. Murray graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 2003. During law school, she worked for the Honorable Robert C. Broomfield in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Ms. Murray lives in the northland area of Kansas City, and is an active member of the Vineyard Church. She enjoys playing golf and being “Aunt Betsy” to her nieces and nephews.
